About the School
William Edwards is situated in the Stifford Clays area of Grays and serves a community of 1200 pupils aged 11-16 and their families.
The school's commitment to &dlquot;inspirational learning with a strong sporting ethos&drquot; reflects the determined and resilient nature of the staff and pupils in pursuing meaningful learning that is appropriate for twenty first century learners.
Our commitment to the Teaching School is based upon our firm belief that every school has strengths and expertises that can benefit the others, and that an open, honest and trusting relationship between all schools across the alliance is the best way of raising standards of teaching and learning for all.
Colleagues working collaboratively on projects aimed at improving the learning experiences and life chances of the young people we are responsible for is our aim.<br/>Within our own school, recognised as 'outstanding' by Ofsted, we have been at the centre of some exciting developments in pedagogy and the learning environment.
We have launched a planning app through the apple store which was developed by staff to establish thorough, contextualised pedagogical planning, and we have worked with external creatives to design a set of classrooms that combine the latest technology with modern learning space design to enhance the learning experience and encourage dynamic teaching.
Projects such as 'learning through sport' and 'creative curriculum' have been designed to offer collaborative and active learning experiences for pupils; and for staff we have developed a range of training programmes that enable them to develop their leadership and teaching skills, as well as pursue areas of personal and professional interest.
What we offer to trainees
